ToggleMost camps teach players what to do. This one teaches players how to work. That is a different thing entirely.
There are a lot of basketball camps out there. A lot of them carry a professional player’s name on the flyer, offer a full day of drills, and send young players home with a t-shirt and a photo.
That is not what the Payton Pritchard Family Foundation camps are.
Payton did not start these camps because it was the thing NBA players do. He started them because he believes, deeply and specifically, that the fundamental training system that built him produces real results on the court. In real games. In real moments. In the situations where preparation either shows up or it doesn’t. He wanted young players to have access to that same system. Not a version of it. The actual thing.
The Coaches Who Built an NBA Player
His father Terry Pritchard is the architect of the FAST program. A former national championship tight end at Oklahoma under Barry Switzer, Terry built the FAST basketball training philosophy from the ground up. He brings decades of development expertise to every Foundation camp, running the drills, setting the winning standard, and teaching the fundamentals the right way. From the ground up.
Coach Eric Viuhkola is Payton’s high school coach from West Linn High School. Coach Viuhkola understood who Payton was as a player and knew how to push him further. He built on the foundation Terry had laid and helped shape Payton into the complete player who would go on to be a four-year starter at the University of Oregon and an NBA champion with the Boston Celtics.
Together Terry and Coach Viuhkola bring something most camps never come close to offering. Real coaches. Real history. A fundamental training system that has already been proven by the player whose name is on the door.
“We are not teaching kids to be Payton. We are teaching them to work the way Payton worked. That is something every player can take with them forever.” — Payton Pritchard Family Foundation
What Happens at a Foundation Camp
When a young player comes to a Payton Pritchard Family Foundation camp, they step into the actual fundamental training system that built him. The basketball drills are the drills Payton did. The progression moves from fundamental skill building to advanced application, exactly as the FAST methodology was designed.
But the camps go beyond skill. Every session is also a lesson in how to work. How to approach a basketball drill with focus and purpose. How to respond to correction. How to evaluate your own performance honestly and return to the fundamentals with intention. These are the qualities that travel beyond the court into classrooms, boardrooms, and every area of a young person’s life where the ability to work hard and trust a process makes the difference.
This Camp Is for Your Player
A common question from parents is whether their child is skilled enough to benefit. The answer is yes, at every level. Payton Pritchard was not always the most talented player in the gym. What made him exceptional was not raw ability. It was the fundamental training system he worked inside and the winning standard he held himself to.
If your player is serious about getting better, not just attending but actually developing as a player and a leader, the Payton Pritchard Family Foundation camps are where that work happens.
